I'm traveling first-time traveler and I'm going to Italy tomorrow. I am a student who needs to get some math homework done on the way there. Will I be allowed to bring a graphing calculator on my carry-on bag?

Any other traveling tips?!

Thanks!

Good idea doing some homework on the way- it's a long ride. You'll be just fine bringing any type of calculator onto the plane, whether it be the most simple dollar-store calculator, or a TI-92 series graphing calculator, you'll have no issues. If you have any doubts about it however, go ahead and take it out of your carry-on bag and put it into a separate plastic bin that the security checkpoint will surely provide. This way it is easily accessible to them if they have any doubts about what it is. It will also be completely safe during flight- as it has no networking capabilities and has a very low chance of interfering with aircraft equipment.

Graphing calculator permission as it is not affecting the aircraft communication system

You should be able to. You might not be able to use it during take off and landing.

People can use their ipods, laptops, and handheld systems on planes (with wireless off).. I see no reason for a mere graphing calculator.
