Will Delta Airlines let me use my phone on airplane mode on the plane?

I have the iPhone 4 which has airplane mode on it, and I was planning to use it on the plane. However, my dad told me they might make everyone turn their cellphones off completely. Please only answer if you have flown in a Delta Airlines airplane. Thanks :)

Delta's official policy (as posted in the link below) doesn't mention smart phones that are set to airplane mode, so chances are, it would likely depend on the flight attendants on your flight. Some attendants won't have a problem with you doing that, but others will adhere strictly to the "no cell phones" rule. I've flown on Delta a few times since I got my Android smart phone and sometimes the flight attendants have no problem with me using it in airplane mode, other times they tell me to turn it off and no amount of explanation can change their mind. My advice would be to go ahead and try it--just make sure you put it into airplane mode before you turn it off. If any of the flight attendants give you hard time about it, explain that it's in airplane mode which disables all radio-frequency transmissions (cell, WiFi, & bluetooth). If that attendant still won't budge, talk to the head attendant, but if that person says "no," don't push it too hard--it's not worth getting on the attendants' bad side (take an alternate form of entertainment, just in case).

in case you activate flight mode, the calling and receiving purposes of the telephone and sms purposes are disabled yet you're able to have the capacity to apply something of the needs on the telephone like video games etc. do no longer try to make calls in flight in spite of everything as I actual have seen some Navigation structures play up with a cellular telephone getting used.

You need to first turn on your airplane mode on your iPhone. Then you need to physically turn OFF the phone. Only after the plane has reached cruising altitude, you can switch your phone on again to play on the iPhone iPod mode. Just tell the flight attendant that you have already switched your phone to Airplane mode and that you're using the iPod feature.
