The Detroit Tigers would be more likely to win a World Series in 2019 than your airplane crashing--the odds of the Tigers winning a title would be about 1000 times greater than your plane crashing.

If you want the statistics it is not hard to look them up.

You can look up at the same time your chance of a winning the lottery, being in a car accident,

being hit by flying debris in a tornado, bitten by a bear, tripping going out the front door, or any other hazard you can dream up.

You heard about the tragic flight of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 On 10 March 2019,

today is April 1 Did you hear anything about the approximately 3,300,000 flights since that day?The chance of YOU being in a plane crash one in 11,000,000 Chance of dying in a traffic accident 1 in 5,000.

How were you planing to get to the Airport?

The flight number includes all those little planes too.

To give the number down to one route it is estimated if you flew from London to New York everyday for about 14,716 years, ONE of the flights would crash.

Will you be on the one that crashes?

This estimate is calculated from using data from The Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Archives, the United States National Transportation Safety Board, and the Civil Aviation Organisation to calculate these odds.

There really is an "app" for the route you want to fly.

Insurance companies take no joy in paying out insurance claims after a crash. The first one is about $100,000,000 just for the plane.

A FEW Billion more for the passengers and other stuff. Just like all companies Insurance companies have no desire to go bankrupt.

Their actuaries analyze lot of numbers

Highly unlikely

You are exponentially more likely to be killed in a car accident on the way to the airport. I don't know about you, but I feel much safer in the sky than the highway.

It’s one of those situations where you really can’t do anything about it so you might as will just sit back and enjoy the ride. We never really know what’s going to happen to us from one minute to the next anyway do we? And statistically you have more of a chance of getting in a car wreck than in a plane crash

The chances of you dying from the food served on the plane are higher than you getting in a crash. Unfortunatly when the rare instance of a crash happens the chance of survival is little to none.

Cars crash and kill/hurt people Every Day All over the World

are you afraid to get in a car?

Car as Much more dangerous than an airplane

in an American flagged airliner over the U.S., you're safer then walking down the sidewalk near your house ..........................................

The possibility is far, FAR less than the possibility of being in a crash on your drive to the airport.

Your question are a natural concern for travelers. However, statistics show that travel by airliner is quite safe, in fact safer than traveling by motorcycle or car. So if you are a passenger, there is little reason for apprehension. The next time you take a long-distance flight, remember that the eyes and ears of air traffic control are attentive to your safety. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a comfortable flight!

The possibility exists. But think of the thousands and thousands of flights that have taken place without incident since the date of the Ethiopian airline crash.

You are not alone in being worried about airplane crashes. . . .

The ASN recorded a total of 15 fatal airliner accidents in 2018, leading to 556 deaths, compared with 10 accidents and 44 lives lost in 2017, the safest year in aviation history. Of those accidents, 12 involved passenger flights and three were cargo flights, the ASN report said.3 Jan 2019

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/02/health/plane-crash-deaths-intl/index.html

But, do not let this put you off flying - because we are more likely to be killed crossing the road than in an airliner crash. But then that's just statistics.

Airplanes are the safest way to travel. Your chances of getting into a plane crash are very slim. Always possible, but very slim.

1. Pilots are well trained for all sort of situations.

2. Thousands of planes fly through the skies every minute of the day and night and not many crashes happen.

3. You are more likely to get into a car crash than a plane crash because there are more cars on the streets than planes in the air.

4. You are WAY more liklely to be in a motorcycle accident because people don't think to pay attention.

5. There are car and motorcycle crashes reported EVERY DAY in the newspaper, but rarely a plane crash.

On the streets: people text and drive, drive under influence, run through red lights, disobey other traffic laws, don't pay attention, etc.

In a plane: pilots are well trained, planes get put on autopilot, there are two people behind the "wheel" paying attention and flying the plane, there are traffic control towers watching the planes every move to make sure they are safe.

You truly don't have to worry. Yes, plane crashes can and do happen, but not as often as a car or motorbike crash, that's for sure.

Air flight per. mile is the safest way to travel. Per take off to landing. Or number of flights. Not all that safe.

Statistically, it is said that air travel is one of the safest forms of travel. Not much comfort to those actually in crashes.

It's possible.

What's the possibility of being in a car and the car crashing?

It's possible.

What's the possibility of being out in the public and being a victim of violence?

It's possible.

Many things are possible.

Some of them are not good.

According to The Economist, the probability of your plane going down is around one in 5.4 million. Other reports place the odds closer to one in 11 million. To put this into perspective, you are far more likely to be struck by lightning or attacked by a shark than you are to die in a plane crash

The percentage chance before Ethiopia was extremely small considering the thousands of flights each day. Now that Boeing is correcting the cause of Ethiopia (and Indonesia) the chance of your having a crash is even less.

Very small since they try very ******* hard to make dam sure everything is safe when you get on that plane but life isn't perfect and mistakes do happen

Air travel is the safest way of traveling possible
2019-03-30 10:35:41 UTC
Very very slim. The reason air crashes make the news are that they're so rare.

The recent crash that killed 157 people? Worldwide, about 1.3 MILLION die in road crashes every year. That's over 3,500 every day.

In 2017 there were 13 air fatalities in the whole world. Two small turbo-prop crashes. Major airlines had not a single death.

If you want to live spend all your time on scheduled flights and steer clear of the roads.

Yes, you are not alone. We are all scared to death of flying now. The airplane was relatively new to many foreign pilots who missed out on the training. You must wait for several years before flying with airlines with brand new planes. Two crashes is enough to give Boeing a strong message. You can rely on BOEING training all the pilots in the world on their software and whatever else they need to know about. Just let a few more months or years to go by and then you will be safe.
