The biggest difference is the price, on most international flights, the price for 1st class is usually about double the price for a business class flight, and business class is usually about 3-5 times more than an economy class flight. Most of the better airlines have full-flat beds in business class, you will get amenity kits and better food and alcohol selection than economy. Plus you will probably have a stewardess to passenger ratio of about 8-10 to 1 as oppossed to economy at 40-50 to 1. You will get lounge access, priority check-in ,priority baggage handling and priority boarding. I've flown 1st class on Cathay Pacific, what you will get is champagne and an appetizer when you board the flight, you will get down comforters and pillows, a good sized bed, large screen personal tv, Shanghai-Tang pajamas, caviar, personalized meals, your own individual "compartment," cooked to order snacks, a private 1st class lounge before you fly and on and on. On some of the better airlines 1st class is truly 1st class in every way, Is it worth the price, I'd say no. But if you don't mind paying the price, it's the only way to fly. Business class is normally just fine, you will have more than enough room, good food and drink, as well as excellent service. I hope I've answered your question.

The seats in first are very slightly bigger, the food menu is very slightly better, the tv screen you have could be slightly bigger, get the picture? I've flown business class a few times and could see very little difference to first although the price difference was significant. Both are very over inflated when it comes to cost, it's where the airlines make their money. There will be an element of snobbery too, traveling first is, well, ti's the best and for some the best is the only way to go. If you were rolling in cash, if money was no object then you'd probably fly first. One thing to take into consideration is that on different airlines the standards are not the same, and first one airline many not even be as good as business class on another. Try Emirates business class, in my view it's the best and you can't ask for anything more.

On most US carriers, the service is pretty much the same. Same food, same drinks. The biggest difference is that the first class cabin has seats that go completely flat like a bed and the business class seats recline and have a foot rest.

Only international flights have both classes. You can usually upgrade from coach to business class if you have enough status with the airline, but you have to purchase first class seats.

Specifics vary between airlines, but general differances are along the lines of business class is more for actual business people. Most seats have their own power supply for laptops and enough room to work. 1st class has better food for one and probably a better selection of alcohol, and it usually has power supply as well, but business travelers wouldn't need the extra luxuries

The difference is the price of the seat and the level of luxury you have. The First Class in any airline is higher than the Business Class service. If you have the money, that's where you want to be when flying.
