Can someone walk me through boarding a plane?

Just in general, because I'm going to be riding on multiple airlines (Delta, Iceland Air, and United Airlines)

I'm leaving for Europe on Wed. morning.... I tried my hardest to bring only carry on bags and I have succeeded, but I'm going to space out my bags some more and bring on a small checked bag so I can bring home some souveniers.

I've never checked baggage before. All of my tickets were bought online, and I don't really know what to do when I get there. I've only gone on a plane once. Can I pay for my checked baggage when I check in?? (If the ticket requires it? I know some airlines like delta I don't have a fee for checked baggage within the US)

And also if you could just walk me through what I gotta do at the actual airport? I have all my email verifications printed out. Do I need anything else?

The best thing to do is go back to the site where you booked your flight and search for an airline answer tele number , they will ask about your baggage, what kind and such, I don`t know about the airlines you have booked with but usually - you might be charged for a small overhead carry on and you can carry a small duffle type bag tht will fit under your seat for free . that will be a question for you to ask when you make the tele call .

Have your passport up to date, carry a photo id ---- in your appropriate line at departure you will use the on board machine at the front of the line, type your number in the appropriate spaces and your boarding pass will be printed out for you --- then proceed to the security line for boarding . After security, go directly to where you will be boarding . ------------ I hope I have helped you ---- make that telephone call .

Have a safe trip.

Rachael,

first thing is to relax, it's all good. Here's a step by step plan.

1.When you arrive at the air port, you can show a copy of your online ticket if you printed it out.

There's curbside bagage check in for most airlines, just find the name of the airlines outside and ask.

2.Most allow at least one bag to be checked, some allow 2 without a fee.

3.They will issue you a boarding pass there or at the gate.

4Proceed to the gate area and go thru security, best thing to wear, slip on shoes or flip flops, no belts. Have less than 4oz. containers for shampoo, they only allow this size, no bigger in carry ons.

5.Find your gate after the strip search, get some food you might want to eat there or on the plane.

6.Always be at the air port 1 1/2 hours early for international flights.

Tips: Bring assorted juice mixes in those small containers and a empty water bottle, so you can fill it at the gate before boarding the plane, always nice to have something to drink before the start offering it on the plane.

FYI: less is more in flying, you can always bring less and buy where ever you are.
