I have a sore lower back and I was wondering are Gel Foam Pillows allowed to be taken on the plane for an International flight?

Melissa is correct. This is likely to be problematic due to the amount of gel within the pad attached to the pillow. As such it is governed by the rules that restricts the amount of liquids, creams, and gels passengers may bring aboard. (See link.)



A recommendation is to seek a suitable substitute for travel such as a simple memory foam or inflatable pillow as suggested by Herfnerd.

Take foam ot an air pillow - you will most likely run into issues with TSA going thru security

No - they will not allow gel-insert items such as pillows and pads, unless the quantity is 3.4oz or smaller, and can be removed and placed in your clear 1qt baggie.
