Transit

Indian nationals do not need an airport transit visa if:

They have a valid Indian passport and a valid Visa or residence permit for Andorra, Canada, United States of America, Monaco, San Marino or a member state of the European Union or an EFTA country.

If they are holders of Diplomatic or Official Indian passports.

They do not leave the transit area.

They continue their journey within 48 hours.

They are in possession of a valid airline ticket to the final destination.

They are in possession of the required documents to enter their country of destination.

They have made the relevant reservations before arrival.



Otherwise the requirements are as follows.

The Applicant should have a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the stay in the Schengen area, with "standard" quality (not damaged, torn, faded etc) pages available for the visa sticker. Old passport, if available, would also be required.

Schengen Visa application form, fully completed and signed by the applicant.

Two recent passport-sized photographs (35-40 mm in width) with the face taking up 70-80% of the photograph space. Copies or scanned photographs are not allowed. One photo should be pasted on the form and the other photo should be given along with the application. Stapled or pinned photographs would not be accepted.

A Covering Letter from the Indian Company/ Individual, giving details of the Applicant's Employment and the purpose of visit.

Confirmed return ticket to India (photocopy of confirmation).

Medical Insurance valid for all Schengen countries, covering risks like accident, illness, medical emergency, evacuation and repatriation. The minimum coverage should be € 30,000 (thirty thousand Euros) or its equivalent. Applicants who wish to apply for a 6 month or 1 year multiple entry visa are not obliged obtain coverage for the total period. It will be sufficient to submit an Insurance Policy covering the first journey. A declaration for covering further journeys accordingly needs to be filled in and signed by the applicant

One copy of the exit visa, if the applicant intends to go to a country afterwards where an entry visa is needed.

Evidence of sufficient financial means in the form of foreign exchange endorsement on the passport or photocopy of international credit card.

Copy of Salary Slips for the last 3 months.

Income Tax Returns for last 3 years.

Bank statement for the last 3 months (photocopies on A4 size only).

Proof of accommodation for the planned journey (e.g. Hotel Reservations, receipt of paid package tours etc).

If the Applicant has been refused a visa by an Embassy or High Commission in the last 3 years a written explanation about the reason for trip and refusal should be given and a copy of refusal from the concerned Embassy or High Commission should also be provided.

Onward country visa.

Proof of occupation.

Student: Students above the age of 16 years should attach copies of their School/ College ID Cards.

Employed: A Letter from the Employer (No-Objection Certificate) confirming the leave and the date of joining. Pay slips for the last 3 months are also required.

Self-employed: A Covering Letter on the Company Letterhead should be supplemented by company documentation like company registration, partnership deed, tax, registration and certificates.

Processing time is minimum 5 working days.

The visa is processed through VFS in New Delhi.

Note: Visa fee is as follows and is to be paid in cash in Delhi, in the form of a Bank Draft in favour of "Consulate General Of Switzerland, Mumbai" payable in Mumbai. i think you mix up the flying time with the stopover ;

flying time is 11.10 and most stop over

on the same plane are around hour or so..

and you cant leave the terminal else the plane would leave without you
