OH if I dont make it to my flight due to the short time in the layover and if the next flight only has a first class seat available, will they put me on with no penality. well there was not much time due to the short layover (And what if the plane was late and i had less time and did not make it), OH, will the flight attendant help get the person who HAS A SHort connection time (Short time in layover to get to their plane) get off the plane first, are they obligated to?

If airlines offer an upgrade for a fee, you pay the fee for the upgrade. Your fare is the price you paid for the ticket. The act of upgrading does not do anythingto the fare you already paid.

It is your responsibility to book connections with adequate connection times. If you miss a connection, airlines will find the next available coach seat for you. They will usually not put you in first class, even if your flight is late. Once in awhile they will, but not usually. They are more likely to bump up other frequent flyer travelers on the flight.

No, they just charge you and change your class, coach to bussiness.

In case you don't make the flight they will put you standby for whatever flight they have next, if they have seats they will confirm it, but are not obligated because you should purchase your tickets with enough time to make connections, specially if they are international.

In case there are only first class seats open, it will all depend on the gate agent, it they want to seat you there, or give the upgrade to someone else, like a frequent flyer, and then give you their seat.

no, the upgrade fee is all you pay. and as mentioned...unless you have mileage status, one of those pax will get the F-seat, and you go in the back!

Sometimes F/As will make an announcement to request the terminating pax to stay seated and let the connectors off first, if flight is late. Sometimes not. Worth suggesting to the purser, if your conex is critical!
