I am travelling to the US in June with Virgin Atlantic Airways (VS) with two other passengers and we would like to sit together.

I know that the larger aircraft seats are in a 3-5-3 layout (we would like the three by the window).

Is there any way to find out which type of aircraft (e.g 747, 787) we have booked our flight on?

It will be an Airbus A340-300, A340-600 or Boeing 747-400.

"Virgin Atlantic's fleet uses both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Boeing 747-400s are used on all routes from Gatwick and Manchester. Boeing 747s and Airbus A340s are used interchangeably on routes from Heathrow. The Airbus A340-600 has however made ad-hoc appearances on the Gatwick and Manchester routes."

If you can give the departure airport & destination, date in June & full flight number (VS???) maybe we can identify the aircraft more easily.

Addition - In order to satisfy "Informer", yes it's true to say that Virgin operate a seasonal flight to Orlando from Glasgow.

If there are mechanical issues they could exchange an airplane yet will commonly attempt to apply between an analogous variety. while they're switching to new airplane a exchange may be the style and if a variety is grounded for risk-free practices motives (the way the A380 became final year) they are going to could desire to apply a distinctive style of airplane. Delta is a 'complete provider' airline so as that they do each and every little thing they could to maintain clientele happy and the standard public do no longer strategies a metamorphosis of airplane variety yet they do strategies being stranded far flung from abode. in the experience that your reserving is with a chit airline the flight would be cancelled and all they are going to do for you is to furnish you a refund. I as quickly as had to attend 11 months earlier receiving a refund from JetStar Asia. in case you examine the substantial factors interior the phrases and stipulations on your reserving maximum airways reserve the acceptable to alter this variety of transportation that they use. they could exchange a bus, prepare or boat in the event that they experience like it (or if Icelandic volcanoes advise that they could't fly).

Go onto the Virgin Atlantic website and pretend you are booking a flight. Put in the same details as your flight and you will be able to see the plane they use for your flight. If you then go to http://www.seatmaestro.com/airlines-seating-maps/virgin-atlantic.html or http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Virgin_Atlantic_Airways/information.phpyou will be able to look at a seat map of the plane you will be flying on.

Sure, when you search for flights on orbitz, it tells you the type of aircraft.

Just note that the airline can change the aircraft type anytime they choses to.

Typically your itinerary will say. Otherwise, if you know the flight number, Googling it might tell you what type of plane you will most likely be on.
