Wearing stuff like that irritates the security officers. They can delay you if you give them grief and if you miss your flight, they can't be held liable.

Do yourself a favor and put them in the bin to avoid any hassle. Even when they check my driver's license and photo, I remove my cap (if I am wearing one) and they always are impressed and thank me for removing it before I am asked to do so. Actions like that are appreciated in making their job easier.

At check in, you can have them around your neck, but at the security checkpoint you'll have to take them off and put them in your carry on luggage or plastic bin. Headphones contain metal and must be removed before going through metal detectors or scanners.

You need to be able to talk to the security people, and if you have headphones in, it might be difficult. Put them in your pocket, then the tray a the metal detector, then put them back in. It won't kill you.

"Please place all electronic items in the bin". You'll get harassed otherwise.
