what form of ID do you need to fly within the UK?

Hi.

I want to fly to Scotland from England and I hear you dont need a passport.

However I hear you need some form of ID. The thing is my passports out of date, and I don't think i'll be able to get it renewed within 2 weeks of me flying to Scotland.

What forms of ID would allowed to let me travel? Would my COLLEGE STUDENT CARD be ok? That is all I really have for proof of picture ID. Dont really have much else!

How long has your passport been out of date? With EasyJet, Flybe and Eastern Airways you can fly on domestic routes using a passport up to 2 years out of date. Other acceptable forms of ID can be seen in the attached -

If considering Ryanair then you need a current passport.

It actually depends on the airline you fly with. Ryanair accepts nothing else than a valid passport, even for domestic flights. All others accept different types of picture ID. Some accept expired passports not longer than two years ago [easyJet; flybe]. You need to check the small print of the airline you plan to fly with. A general answer is not possible.

Edit: You can use your expired passport [up to two years] or your student ID if you fly on flybe.

Yes your student card will be ok I have flown with flybe on a internal domestic flight just using my bus pass which has my photo on it and had no problem at all as long as it is official picture id they will accept it on a domestic flight
